Martinsville Police cars got a new logo: The work “POLICE” in a large sans-serif font that in letters that stretched across both the front and back doors, in light colors, with two dark stripes that ran through them along the side of the car, and the word “MARTINSVILLE” in the same font in darker letters, small enough that it just ran across the “P” and the “O.” It was meant to be a modern logo to replace the one that had been on the cars for 15 years. The old logo had “Police” in smaller letters mounted on a shield-shaped emblem that showed the city’s name and an outline of the state the state bird the cardinal and the state flower dogwood.
