An epidemic of the flu was going around Martinsville, with local physicians saying that the outbreak was almost as bad as that of 1918, though this case of the flu was much milder than the previous one. On one day all high school classes were dismissed so that the building could be thoroughly fumigated. The grade school building also was closed. No fatalities from this outbreak of flu were reported.
