Sandy Slate, a Patrick county mountaineer, was killed during a raid on a still near Slate’s home.
75 years ago – 1950
Mrs. J.C. Shockley and H. Grady Moore, members of the Henry County Tuberculosis Association, and Miss Mary Ewell Roe, executive secretary, were in Alexandria attending the annual meeting of the Virginia Tuberculosis Association.
50 years ago – 1975
Gindy Manufacturing Co. of Ridgeway called back to work 40 employees who had been laid off since January. The recall was due to a temporary spurt in orders for new truck trailers, which Gindy made.
25 years ago - 2000
The Disc Jockey music store opened in Liberty Fair Mall. Chris Slusher was the store manager, Ursula Hairston was the assistant store manager, Crystal Denton worked there as a sales associate, and Tammy Darnell was the mall coordinator.
