100 Years ago – 1925

75 years ago – 1950

Ridgeway Future Farmers of America members Conrad Knight, Alvin Scott and Kenneth Dunn attended the 24th State convention of FFA at V.P.I. in Blacksburg. They participated in a dairy judging contest the first night, then went on field trips for three days.

50 years ago – 1975

Glenn Richard Compton, 22, of Route 6, Martinsville, was killed after a wreck in which he had been driving a motorcycle which was hit by a van.

Across Martinsville and Henry County, 2,340 students were enrolled in summer school. Some of them were repeating classes they had failed, while some high school students were getting a jump on classes that would have been required in the year ahead.

25 years ago - 2000

Lillian Foster retired after 24 years as the crossing guard at Albert Harris Elementary School.
